Chuck Dressen

Charles Walter Dressen (September 20, 1894 – August 10, 1966) was a right-handed third baseman, manager, and coach whose professional career spanned nearly fifty years. Born in Decatur, Illinois, he broke into professional baseball in 1919 with the Moline Plowboys of the Class B Three-I League. Despite standing 5-foot-5 and weighing 145 pounds, Dressen also played professional football as a quarterback, lining up for the Decatur Staleys in 1919–1920 and the Racine Legion of the National Football League in 1922–1923. He is best known as manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1951 to 1953, where he won two National League pennants.
