Charles Louis Howley (born June 28, 1936, in Wheeling, West Virginia) played linebacker for 15 seasons in the NFL after attending West Virginia University. The Chicago Bears selected him seventh overall in the 1958 NFL Draft, and after two seasons in Chicago he joined the Dallas Cowboys, where he spent the remainder of his career as an original member of the Doomsday Defense. Howley earned six Pro Bowl and five first-team All-Pro selections, appeared in two consecutive Super Bowls, and won Super Bowl VI. He was named MVP of Super Bowl V, the only player in that game's history to receive the award while on the losing team. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2023.
