Claude Larose

Claude David Larose, a Canadian professional ice hockey player, was born March 2, 1942, in Hearst, Ontario. He played junior hockey with the Peterborough Petes before beginning a 16-year National Hockey League career spanning 943 games with the Montreal Canadiens, Minnesota North Stars, and St. Louis Blues. Ten of those seasons came with Montreal. Over his career he recorded 226 goals and 257 assists for 483 points, along with 887 penalty minutes.

Larose led the Canadiens in penalties during the 1971 Stanley Cup Playoffs, when Montreal upset both the defending champion Boston Bruins and the Chicago Black Hawks. With Minnesota, he skated on a line with teammates Grant and Danny O'Shea and scored the final goal in the 1969 NHL All-Star Game. Returning from an injury in 1974, he was placed on a line with brothers Frank and Peter Mahovlich and scored four goals against Pittsburgh goaltender Gary Inness, following with a hat trick in the next game.

He won six Stanley Cups during his career: five as a player, in 1965, 1966, 1968, 1971, and 1973, and one as a scout in 2006. After retiring as a player, Larose served as an assistant coach for the Hartford Whalers.
