Clem Labine was a right-handed relief pitcher who spent the bulk of his Major League Baseball career with the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers from 1950 to 1960. Born in Lincoln, Rhode Island in 1926, he was a central figure in the Dodgers' pitching staff during the early 1950s, contributing a win and a save as Brooklyn claimed its first World Series title in 1955. Labine held the National League record for career saves from 1958 to 1962, and when he retired his 96 saves ranked fourth in MLB history, along with the Dodgers franchise records for career saves and games pitched.
