Clendon Thomas

Clendon Thomas (December 28, 1935 – January 27, 2026) played halfback and defensive back in the NFL for 11 seasons after starring at the University of Oklahoma under coach Bud Wilkinson. He led the nation in scoring in 1956, topped the Sooners in scoring in both 1956 and 1957, and helped Oklahoma win back-to-back national championships in 1955 and 1956. A consensus All-American his senior year, he finished ninth in the 1957 Heisman Trophy balloting. Selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the second round of the 1958 NFL Draft, he later moved to the Pittsburgh Steelers and earned a Pro Bowl selection following the 1963 season.
