Cliff Melton

Cliff Melton was a left-handed pitcher who played for the New York Giants in Major League Baseball from 1937 to 1944. Standing 6 feet 5½ inches tall, the Brevard, North Carolina native went 20–9 with a 2.61 ERA in his 1937 rookie season, leading the National League with seven saves and helping the Giants claim the NL pennant. New York fell to the Yankees in the 1937 World Series. Melton earned a second NL All-Star selection in 1942. Known by the nicknames "Mickey Mouse" and "Mountain Music," he pitched for the Giants across parts of eight seasons.
