Clifton McNeil

Clifton McNeil (May 25, 1939 – December 21, 2025) was a wide receiver in the NFL from 1964 through 1973. He played college football at Grambling State and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the eleventh round of the 1962 NFL Draft. After four seasons in Cleveland, he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in 1968, where he led the NFL in receptions with 71 catches for 994 yards and seven touchdowns, earning a Pro Bowl selection. He later played for the New York Giants, Washington Redskins, and Houston Oilers. Known for his slim build and speed, he went by nicknames including Sticks, Spider, Road Runner, and Night Train.
