Dossier

Clyde Wayne Lee (born March 14, 1944) is an American former professional basketball player who starred as an All-American center at Vanderbilt University before a ten-season career in the NBA. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, he attended David Lipscomb Campus School from 1961 to 1963 and was regarded as one of the finest high school players the city had produced.

A 6 ft 10 in power forward and center, Lee played three seasons at Vanderbilt under coach Roy Skinner from 1963 to 1966, where he was active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He made an immediate impact as a sophomore, averaging 18.8 points and an SEC-leading 15.6 rebounds per game. Known primarily for his rebounding and his scoring around the basket, Lee considered himself a rebounder first, though he also developed a drive to the basket and a mid-range jump shot. He was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Year twice and ranks among the most heralded players in Vanderbilt history.

Lee was selected No. 3 overall in the 1965 NBA draft and went on to play ten seasons in the league, earning one selection as an NBA All-Star.
