Clyde Lovellette

Clyde Edward Lovellette (September 7, 1929 – March 9, 2016) was an American professional basketball player. Born in Petersburg, Indiana, he moved to Terre Haute as a child and attended Garfield High School there, where he was a two-time All-State performer. As a junior in 1946–47, his previously undefeated Garfield team, which had won 31 straight games, lost in the Indiana state championship finals to a Shelbyville team led by Bill Garrett; Lovellette was the game's high scorer with 25 points and was named All-State center that year. In 1948 he was selected to the Indiana all-star team that played a squad of Kentucky high school all-stars. He originally committed to play college basketball at Indiana University. Lovellette was the first basketball player in history to achieve the Triple Crown, having played on an NCAA championship team, an Olympic gold medal team, and an NBA championship squad. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1988.
