Connie Mack

Cornelius McGillicuddy (December 22, 1862 – February 8, 1956), better known as Connie Mack, was an American professional baseball catcher, manager, and team owner. He holds the Major League Baseball records for most wins (3,731), losses (3,948), ties (76), and games managed (7,755). His 3,731 victories stand 847 ahead of the second-highest total, Tony La Russa's 2,884, and his career losses exceed La Russa's by 1,449. His 76 ties are 17 more than the next-closest manager, Clark Griffith, with 59.

Mack managed the Philadelphia Athletics for the franchise's first 50 seasons, beginning in 1901, and was at least part-owner from 1901 to 1954. He retired after the 1950 season at the age of 87. He was the first American League manager to lead a team to 100 wins, accomplishing it in 1910, 1911, 1929, 1930, and 1931; his five 100-win seasons rank second-most in MLB history, surpassed by only two other managers.

Mack was the first manager to win the World Series three times, and he remains the only manager to win consecutive Series on two separate occasions, in 1910–11 and 1929–30. His five World Series titles are the third-most of any manager, and he won nine American League pennants.
