Darnell Hillman

Darnell Hillman, born August 29, 1949, is an American former professional basketball player who spent nine seasons in the American Basketball Association and the National Basketball Association. A 6-foot-9 forward, he played for the Indiana Pacers, New Jersey Nets, Denver Nuggets, Kansas City Kings, and Golden State Warriors.

Hillman graduated from Hiram W. Johnson High School and played college basketball for the San Jose State Spartans. In 1969 he was named first-team All-WCAC after setting a school single-season rebounding record with 327 boards, a 14.2 average per game, while averaging 15.3 points. He also competed in track and field at San Jose State, clearing 6'11½" in the high jump, a mark that still ranks tenth on the school's all-time list. In 1970 he played for the United States men's national team at the FIBA World Championship.

Hillman was selected 19th overall by Indiana in the 1971 ABA Draft. Nine weeks later, the Golden State Warriors chose him eighth overall in the 1971 NBA draft. He opted to sign with the Pacers of the American Basketball Association.
