Darrall Imhoff

Darrall Tucker Imhoff (October 11, 1938 – June 30, 2017) was an American professional basketball player whose career spanned 12 seasons in the National Basketball Association. Born in San Gabriel, California, to Clark and Lorraine (Tucker) Imhoff, he grew up there and attended Alhambra High School, where he played center on the school's basketball team.

Imhoff made the team as a walk-on at the University of California, Berkeley, and developed into a two-time All-American. He was the top rebounder on Cal's 1959 NCAA championship team and hit the winning basket in the 1959 NCAA title game. The following season he led the 1960 NCAA runner-up Berkeley team in scoring at 13.7 points per game and in rebounding at 12.4 rebounds per game. As a collegian he was feared as a shot blocker. He was also a member of the gold medal-winning 1960 United States Olympic basketball team.

From 1960 to 1972 Imhoff played in the NBA for six teams, earning selection to an NBA All-Star team during his professional career. He is perhaps best remembered as one of the defenders tasked with guarding Wilt Chamberlain during Chamberlain's 100-point game in 1962. Imhoff died on June 30, 2017.
