Dave Cash

David Cash Jr. (born June 11, 1948) is an American former professional baseball second baseman and coach who played in Major League Baseball from 1969 to 1980. Born in Utica, New York, Cash attended Thomas R. Proctor High School before reaching the majors with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

His career began modestly, as he appeared in only 82 games over his first two seasons, though he hit a respectable .306 across 271 at-bats. Cash established himself as a solid singles hitter and a capable defensive second baseman during his time in Pittsburgh, serving as the Pirates' primary second baseman from 1971 to 1973. He was a member of the 1971 World Series winning team. His playing time was reduced somewhat by military service commitments and by the presence of veteran Bill Mazeroski and rising star Rennie Stennett.

After the 1973 season, Cash moved to the Philadelphia Phillies, where he became a three-time All-Star. He later played for the Montreal Expos and the San Diego Padres before finishing his playing career in 1980.

Following his retirement as a player, Cash spent several years working as a minor league hitting coach and manager for several major league organizations.
