Dave Kocourek

David Allen Kocourek (August 20, 1937 – April 24, 2013) was an American professional football player who competed as an end in the American Football League. Born in Chicago, he attended J. Sterling Morton High School in Cicero, Illinois, where he was a star end on offense and also played defense, graduating in 1955. During one game in his senior season he recorded four receptions for 152 yards and recovered a fumble on defense. The Champaign News-Gazette, one of the two official sources on high school football accolades in Illinois at the time, named him All-State as a senior. He was a multi-sport athlete at Morton, playing center on the basketball team, which won the Suburban League championship during his junior year, and competing in the hurdles and high jump for the track team.

Kocourek went on to play college football for the Wisconsin Badgers at the University of Wisconsin. As a professional, he became a four-time AFL All-Star and earned multiple All-AFL selections with the San Diego Chargers. He was later named to the second team of the AFL All-Time Team.
