Dave Parks

David Wayne Parks (December 25, 1941 – August 8, 2019) was an American professional football wide receiver and tight end in the National Football League. Out of Texas Technological College (now Texas Tech University), he was the first overall selection in the 1964 NFL draft.

Parks attended Abilene High School in Abilene, Texas, where he played for head coach Chuck Moser. He went on to play for the Texas Tech Red Raiders from 1961 to 1963, setting several school records. As a junior in 1962, he was named an All-Southwest Conference selection. Following his final season in 1963, Parks became the first player in Texas Tech history to be named an Associated Press All-American, also earning recognition from Sporting News, Time, and other outlets.

In the NFL, Parks was selected to three Pro Bowls and was named All-Pro twice. In 1965 he captured the "triple crown" of receiving, leading the league in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. In 2008 he was selected for enshrinement in the College Football Hall of Fame.
