Dave Schultz

David William Schultz, born October 14, 1949, is a Canadian businessman and former professional ice hockey player and coach. Born in Waldheim, Saskatchewan, he grew up in Rosetown, Saskatchewan.

Schultz was a point producer in junior hockey but became an enforcer in his first year of professional hockey with the Richmond Robins of the AHL. He went on to join the Philadelphia Flyers, where he earned the nickname "the Hammer" for his aggressive style of play and became one of the most notable enforcers on the team's "Broad Street Bullies." He won two Stanley Cups with the Flyers, in 1973–74 and 1974–75. He holds the NHL record for most penalty minutes in a single season, at 472.

After his time in Philadelphia, Schultz played for several teams—the Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, and Buffalo Sabres—in search of a permanent position, often sought out by general managers looking to add muscle to their clubs.
