Dick Brown

Richard Ernest Brown (January 17, 1935 – April 17, 1970) was a right-handed catcher from Shinnston, West Virginia who played nine seasons in Major League Baseball for the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, and Baltimore Orioles. A Florida State University alumnus, Brown made his big league debut on June 20, 1957, and appeared in 636 games, batting .244 with 62 home runs and 223 RBI. His most productive years came with Detroit, where he hit 16 home runs in 1961 and 12 in 1962. He posted a career .989 fielding percentage and caught six pitchers who would later be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
