Dick Duff

Terrance Richard Duff, born February 18, 1936, in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was a Canadian professional ice hockey forward who played eighteen seasons in the National Hockey League from 1955 to 1971. The sixth of thirteen children in a mining family — his father worked with Lake Shore Mines — Duff was raised in the small mining town that also produced Ted Lindsay, whom Duff named as his idol. Standing five feet ten inches and weighing 163 pounds, he was regarded as one of the top small players of his era.

Over his career Duff suited up for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Buffalo Sabres, Los Angeles Kings, and New York Rangers. He returned to the Maple Leafs organization later in life, briefly serving as the team's head coach during the 1979–80 season.

Kirkland Lake's hockey output produced a notable convergence in the 1967 Stanley Cup Final, when four players from the town — Duff, Ralph Backstrom, Mike Walton, and Larry Hillman — all faced one another in the series.
