Richard James Ricketts Jr. (1933–1988) was a 6'7" forward out of Duquesne University who was selected No. 1 overall by the St. Louis Hawks in the 1955 NBA Draft, the same Duquesne squad that featured Sihugo Green. An All-American in college, Ricketts pursued professional basketball and baseball simultaneously before leaving the NBA to focus on pitching. He appeared with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1959 and went on to a ten-season professional baseball career. He is one of thirteen athletes in history to have played in both the NBA and MLB.
