Dick Snyder

Richard J. Snyder Jr. (born February 1, 1944) is an American former professional basketball player who competed in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1966 through 1979. A shooting guard who occasionally played small forward, Snyder graduated from Davidson College, where he also pitched and played outfield for the baseball team, and was drafted by the St. Louis Hawks in the second round of the 1966 NBA draft.

Over his career he played for the Hawks, Phoenix Suns, Seattle SuperSonics, and Cleveland Cavaliers, achieving his greatest success with the SuperSonics franchise. During the early 1970s he ranked among the league leaders in field goal percentage. His best statistical season came in 1970–71, when he averaged 19.4 points per game and finished fifth in the league in both field goal and free throw percentage. Snyder was traded to Cleveland after the 1974 season, then returned to Seattle for his final season in 1978–79, earning an NBA championship ring.

Before college, Snyder starred in football, baseball, and basketball in high school. In 2011 he was inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame.
