Didier Pitre

Didier "Cannonball" Pitre (September 1, 1883 – July 29, 1934) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player known for one of the hardest shots of his era. He began his career in the International Professional Hockey League — the first fully professional hockey league — before joining the Montreal Canadiens as one of the club's earliest players. His French-Canadian heritage, shared with teammates Jack Laviolette and Newsy Lalonde, contributed to the Canadiens earning the nickname The Flying Frenchmen. A prolific scorer, Pitre won the Stanley Cup with Montreal in 1916, the franchise's first. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1963.
