Donald Ray Chaney (born March 22, 1946) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and attended McKinley High School, where he excelled in basketball. He played college basketball for the University of Houston, where he was a teammate of Elvin Hayes and played all 40 minutes of the famed "Game of the Century" at the Astrodome.

In the 1968 NBA draft, Chaney was the first-round pick, twelfth overall, of the Boston Celtics; he was also drafted by the Houston Mavericks of the American Basketball Association. He won a championship with the Celtics during his rookie year in 1969. On February 28, 1973, he set a career high of 32 points in a win over the Golden State Warriors, and he helped Boston win the 1974 NBA Finals. Chaney played for the Celtics from 1968 to 1975, then joined the Spirits of St. Louis for the 1975–1976 season. As a coach, he won NBA Coach of the Year while leading the Houston Rockets.
