Don Edwards

Donald Laurie Edwards (born September 28, 1955) was a Canadian goaltender who played ten seasons in the NHL with the Buffalo Sabres, Calgary Flames, and Toronto Maple Leafs. He developed in the juniors with the Kitchener Rangers of the OHA, appearing in 90 games over two seasons before being selected 89th overall by Buffalo in the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft. After a season with the AHL's Hershey Bears, he went 16–7 with a 2.51 GAA in 25 NHL games his first year. On February 13, 1977, Edwards was inserted as a last-minute starter by Sabres general manager Punch Imlach in what became one of the more unusual episodes in franchise history.
