Don Kojis

Donald R. Kojis (January 15, 1939 – November 19, 2021) was an American professional basketball player who played twelve seasons in the National Basketball Association. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he attended Notre Dame High School in Milwaukee, where he was a standout, scoring 48 points in a single game in January 1957 and earning selection that year to the Associated Press All-Wisconsin high school basketball team.

Kojis attended Marquette University from 1958 to 1961 and was named an All-American twice. Listed at 6 ft 5 in, he was often asked to play center on Marquette's small-sized team, aided by considerable leaping ability; Wilt Chamberlain later called him "the most jumping white boy I've ever seen." Kojis led the team in rebounding in 1959–60, averaging 15.4 rebounds per game, and raised that mark to 17.1 per game in 1960–61. As of 2024, those remain the two highest single-season rebounding averages for a Marquette men's basketball player.

Kojis is credited as having been involved in the creation or advancement of the alley-oop dunk.
