Dossier

Donald Maurice Metz (January 10, 1916 – November 16, 2007) was a Canadian right winger who played parts of nine seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1939 to 1949, finishing with 172 NHL games and 55 points. Born in Wilcox, Saskatchewan, he was the brother of Leafs teammate Nick Metz. His most consequential stretch came in the 1942 Stanley Cup Final against Detroit, where he entered the lineup with Toronto down three games to none and recorded four goals and three assists across four games — including a five-point effort in a 9–3 game-five win. He won the Stanley Cup five times: 1942, 1945, 1947, 1948, and 1949.
