Don Murdoch

Donald Walter Murdoch (born October 25, 1956) is a Canadian right wing who played in the NHL from 1976 to 1982 with the New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, and Detroit Red Wings. Selected 6th overall by New York in the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft out of the Medicine Hat Tigers, Murdoch scored 32 goals and 56 points in 59 rookie games, setting a Rangers rookie goal record and finishing runner-up for the Calder Trophy. On October 12, 1976, he tied Howie Meeker's record with five goals in a single game against the Minnesota North Stars. He appeared in the 1979 Stanley Cup Final with the Rangers.
