Don Norton

Donald Farris Norton (1938–1997) played end in the American Football League after starring for the Iowa Hawkeyes in college. Selected by the AFL in 1960, he spent seven seasons with the Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers (1960–1966), earning AFL All-Star honors in both 1961 and 1962. Norton died in June 1997 at age 59 following complications from open heart surgery, his health having deteriorated in part due to steroid use that was widespread on the teams he played for during his career.
