Dorie Murrey

Dorie S. Murrey, born September 7, 1943, is an American former professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association from 1966 to 1972. A 6-foot-8-inch, 215-pound power forward, he played collegiately at the University of Detroit Mercy. He was selected with the second pick in the second round of the 1966 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons, his hometown team.

Murrey was taken in two expansion drafts. In 1967, he was made available by the Pistons and selected by the Seattle SuperSonics, and in 1970 he was made available by the SuperSonics and selected by the Portland Trail Blazers. Three games into the 1970–71 season, on October 10, 1970, the Trail Blazers traded him to the Baltimore Bullets in exchange for a 1971 second-round draft choice, Rick Fisher.

Over his six-year NBA career, Murrey appeared in 357 games, averaging 4.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
