Dossier
Douglas Allan Kotar (June 11, 1951 – December 16, 1983) was a running back who played eight seasons for the New York Giants of the NFL after going undrafted out of the University of Kentucky in 1974. Originally signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as a free agent, he was traded to New York just four days later. Over his career he rushed for 3,380 yards and added 1,022 receiving yards, ranking fourth in Giants history in rushing at the time of his retirement. He retired in July 1982 citing knee and shoulder pain and family reasons. He was raised in Muse, Pennsylvania, and attended Canon-McMillan High School.
