Doug Mohns

Douglas Allen "Diesel" Mohns (December 13, 1933 – February 7, 2014) was a professional ice hockey player who played 22 seasons in the National Hockey League, from 1953–54 through 1974–75. Born and raised in Capreol, Ontario, a town 25 km north of Sudbury, he began playing for his hometown team before joining the Ontario Hockey Association's Barrie Flyers in 1951. With the Flyers he twice won junior hockey's Memorial Cup, as a member of the 1951 and 1953 championship teams, before turning professional in 1953.

Mohns joined the Boston Bruins in 1953 and became a versatile cornerstone of the franchise for 11 seasons. He played both forward and defence over the course of his career. An early slapshot expert, he combined skating speed and breakout passing with rugged reliability, and on the Boston blue line he starred alongside Bruins captain Fern Flaman and longtime teammate, centre Don McKenney.

Across 1,390 career NHL games, Mohns scored 248 goals and added 462 assists for 710 points, while compiling 1,250 penalty minutes.
