Earl Sheely

Earl Homer Sheely (February 12, 1893 – September 16, 1952) was an American first baseman who spent the bulk of his nine-season major league career with the Chicago White Sox (1921–27), with brief stints for the Pittsburgh Pirates (1929) and Boston Braves (1931). He finished sixth in 1925 American League MVP voting, batting .315 with 189 hits, 43 doubles, and 111 RBI in 153 games. For his career he posted a .300 batting average and a .991 fielding percentage at first base. After playing, he scouted for the Boston Red Sox and served as general manager of the Seattle Rainiers. He is an inductee of the Pacific Coast League Hall of Fame.
