Earl Whitehill

Earl Oliver Whitehill (February 7, 1899 – October 22, 1954) was a left-handed pitcher from Cedar Rapids, Iowa who spent the bulk of his Major League Baseball career with the Detroit Tigers (1923–1932). He later pitched for the Washington Senators (1933–1936), Cleveland Indians (1937–1938), and Chicago Cubs (1939). Known for his consistency, Whitehill won in double digits for thirteen consecutive seasons (1924–1936), averaging 14 wins per year without dipping below 11 wins in any full season. He led the American League in hit batsmen in 1924 and was regarded as one of the most reliable starters of his era.
