Ed Konetchy

Edward Joseph, known as "Big Ed", was born September 3, 1885 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and died May 27, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas. He made his major-league debut in 1907 and was associated chiefly with the St. Louis Cardinals, with his final big-league appearance coming in 1921, a span of 15 seasons. His broader professional career — including minor-league service — extended through 1927. He was listed at 195 pounds, and batted and threw right-handed. His likeness survives in the cardboard record on the E254 Colgan's Chips issue. He is buried at Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth, Texas; Section 29 - Lot 138 - Space 5 1/2.
