Ed Modzelewski

Edward Walter Modzelewski (January 13, 1929 – February 28, 2015) was a fullback who played in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns. A three-sport athlete from West Natrona, Pennsylvania, he became a three-year starter at the University of Maryland. In 1951, he was part of an undefeated Maryland squad (10–0) that outscored opponents 381–74 and earned the program's first major bowl berth. At the 1952 Sugar Bowl, Modzelewski rushed for 153 yards and was named the game's outstanding player as Maryland upset top-ranked Tennessee. He was selected by Pittsburgh in the first round (6th overall) of the 1952 NFL Draft.
