Ed Rommel

Ed Rommel was a pitcher for the Philadelphia Athletics in the American League. On July 10, 1932, he entered a game against the Cleveland Indians in relief after starter Lew Krausse allowed three runs in the first inning, and proceeded to pitch 17 innings — an American League record for relief work — to secure an 18–17 Athletics victory in 18 innings at League Park in Cleveland. Rommel allowed 29 hits and 14 runs in his appearance, both major-league records for a winning pitcher, in a game that also set records for hits by a single player and hits by both teams combined.
