Ed Sandford

Edward Michael Sandford (1928–2023) was a Canadian professional ice hockey forward who spent most of his NHL career with the Boston Bruins. He joined the organization in 1947 after a standout junior career with the St. Michael's Majors, where he won the Red Tilson Trophy as the OHA's most valuable player and helped the club claim the Memorial Cup. Sandford appeared in five consecutive NHL All-Star Games from 1951 to 1955, led all playoff scorers in 1952–53 with eight goals and eleven points, and posted a career-best 47 points in 1953–54. He later served as Bruins captain, succeeding the retiring Milt Schmidt.
