Dossier

Edward Lee Jones (born February 23, 1951, in Jackson, Tennessee) played defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys across 15 NFL seasons (1974–1978, 1980–1989). Known as "Too Tall" Jones for his height, he earned his nickname before reaching the league. Jones grew up primarily as a basketball and baseball player — his high school in Jackson did not field a football team until his senior year, limiting him to three games. He accepted a basketball scholarship to Tennessee State University before turning to football. In 1979, midway through his Cowboys career, he stepped away to pursue professional boxing before returning to the NFL the following season.
