Eddie Miles

Edward Miles Jr. (born July 5, 1940) is a retired American basketball player, known for his shooting ability as "The Man With the Golden Arm." He was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas, and graduated from Scipio A. Jones High School in North Little Rock. Across his four varsity seasons there he averaged 18, 25, 30, and 32 points per game, and he led Jones to four state championships. In 1959 he took the team to the finals of the national black high school tournament. A two-time high school All-American and four-time All-State selection, Miles was recruited by 50 colleges. He chose Seattle University out of admiration for its alumnus Elgin Baylor, who had personally called to recruit him. At Seattle, sports information director Bill Sears gave him the "Man with the Golden Arm" nickname for his shooting prowess. Miles played three varsity seasons for the team and led it in scoring in each of them. During his senior season of 1962–63 he averaged 25.8 points per game, ranking seventh in the nation in scoring.
