Dossier

Edward Joseph Price Jr. (September 2, 1925 – July 21, 1979) was an American professional football player who played running back for the New York Giants of the National Football League. Born in New Orleans, he attended Warren Easton High School in that city, graduating in 1943, and served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Price then attended Tulane University, where he played college football for the Green Wave as a four-year letterman across the 1946–1949 seasons. He was named to All-Southeastern Conference teams three times, from 1947 through 1949, earning consensus selection in the latter two years. He was also named to College Football All-America Teams in 1948 and 1949 by some selectors.

In the 1950 Senior Bowl, the inaugural edition of that game, Price scored a fourth-quarter touchdown for the South team, which defeated the North, 22–13. He had previously been selected by the Brooklyn Dodgers, and was chosen in the second round of the 1950 NFL draft by the New York Giants. He went on to play six seasons with the Giants.

Price was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1982.
