Ernie Pitts

Ernie Pitts (March 8, 1935 – September 24, 1970) was a Canadian Football League wide receiver and defensive back who played college baseball and football at the University of Denver before joining the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1957. Over a 14-year CFL career that also included a stint with the BC Lions, Pitts won four Grey Cups with Winnipeg (1958, 1959, 1961, 1962). He caught 68 passes in 1959, the same season he scored 16 touchdowns, and once hauled in five touchdown passes in a single game. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in August 2019.
