Erwin Mueller

Erwin Louis Mueller (March 12, 1944 – June 7, 2018) was an American basketball player who stood 6 ft 8 in and played power forward and center. Born in Livermore, California, he attended Livermore High School, where he played under coach Leon "Lee" Williford. He led the team to two Diablo Valley Athletic League championships and Tournament of Champions berths in 1960-61 and 1961-62. As a junior he was the DVAL scoring champion and was named to the All-TOC team after averaging nearly 20 points a game.

Mueller played college basketball at the University of San Francisco from 1963 to 1966, appearing at both center and forward. His defensive ability protecting the basket at the rim earned him the nickname "Mr. Inside." He was selected All-Coast, All-Conference, and All-American, and during his senior year he averaged 18.4 points per game. The Chicago Bulls selected him in the second round of the 1966 NBA draft, tenth overall. Mueller died on June 7, 2018.
