Everett Case

Everett Norris Case (June 21, 1900 – April 30, 1966), nicknamed the "Old Gray Fox," was an American basketball coach best known for his tenure at North Carolina State University from 1946 to 1964. Born in Anderson, Indiana, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1923. Over 23 years coaching high school basketball, Case compiled a 726–75 record, winning four Indiana state championships while coaching in Frankfort, Indiana, in 1925, 1929, 1936, and 1939. He is one of only five coaches to win at least four state titles in Indiana basketball, alongside Marion Crawley, Glenn M. Curtis, Jack Keefer, and Bill Green. Frankfort's Case Arena is named after him.

Case enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941. Commissioned a senior-grade lieutenant, he reported to Annapolis for a four-week training course before traveling to Chicago for five weeks of training. He then reported to the Naval Pre-flight school at St. Mary's College in California, where he served as assistant athletic director and director of basketball, and also served as athletic director at the Alameda Naval station. Following his coaching career at North Carolina State, Case was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1982.
