Dossier

Forbes Taylor Kennedy (August 18, 1935 – May 26, 2026) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who appeared in the National Hockey League between 1956 and 1969. Born in Dorchester, New Brunswick, and raised in Prince Edward Island, Kennedy played 603 NHL games across five teams, recording 70 goals and 108 assists for 178 points along with 888 penalty minutes. Despite a small frame, listed at 5'8'' and 150 pounds, he was frequently the most penalized player on the ice, and he led the NHL in penalty minutes during the 1968–69 season.

Kennedy spent one season with the Western Hockey League's San Francisco Seals before that team was relocated and renamed for absorption into the NHL as the California Seals. His most infamous game came during the 1969 Stanley Cup playoffs in Boston, after teammate Pat Quinn delivered a massive hit that knocked Bruins star Bobby Orr unconscious. Kennedy responded by taking part in four fights before punching a linesman and being ejected. He received a lengthy suspension, and his tenure with the Toronto Maple Leafs ended.

After his playing career concluded, Kennedy went on to coach for several seasons.
