Forrest Gregg

Dossier
Alvis Forrest Gregg (October 18, 1933 – April 12, 2019) was an American professional football player and coach. Born in Birthright, Texas, he attended Sulphur Springs High School and played college football at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he saw time on both the offensive and defensive line and earned All-Southwest Conference honors in his final two seasons.
Gregg spent 16 seasons as an offensive tackle in the National Football League and was a key player in the Green Bay Packers dynasty under head coach Vince Lombardi. He was part of six NFL championships, five of them with the Packers, before closing out his playing career with the Dallas Cowboys and a win in Super Bowl VI.
He later became a head coach, leading three NFL teams—the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, and Green Bay Packers. He took the 1981 Bengals to the Super Bowl, where they lost to the San Francisco 49ers, 26–21. Gregg also coached two Canadian Football League teams, the Toronto Argonauts and Shreveport Pirates, and served as a college coach for the SMU Mustangs.
Gregg was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
