Fran Rogel

Dossier
Francis Stephen Rogel (1927–2002) was a fullback who spent eight seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers of the NFL after being selected in the eighth round of the 1950 draft. He played college football at Penn State, where he was the Nittany Lions' leading rusher for three consecutive seasons and appeared in the 1948 Cotton Bowl Classic, a 13–13 tie with Southern Methodist. Before Penn State, he spent the 1946 season at California State Teachers College, helping that team to a 9–0 record. Rogel did not miss a game across his entire eight-year run with Pittsburgh, from 1950 through 1957, and later played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL.
