Fred Cone

Fred Cone (June 21, 1926 – December 31, 2021) was a fullback and placekicker in the National Football League who played for the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys. He grew up in Pine Apple, Alabama, and attended Clemson College, where he played college football for the Tigers after a tryout arranged through a connection to head coach Frank Howard. Before college, Cone served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 11th Airborne Division in the Pacific. He was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.
