John Frederick Dugan (1933–2018) was a professional football end who played in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Redskins. He attended Stamford High School before enrolling at the University of Alabama, which he left as a sophomore to help run the family restaurant. He transferred to the University of Dayton in 1954, where he developed into a two-way end. As a senior, he led the nation with 37 receptions for 546 yards in seven games, breaking the school record and earning All-American honors. The 49ers selected him in the seventh round of the 1957 NFL Draft.
