Fred Lynn

Fred Lynn is an American former professional baseball center fielder who played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball. Born in Chicago on February 3, 1952, Lynn attended the University of Southern California, where he was part of three consecutive College World Series championship teams (1971–1973). Selected by the Boston Red Sox in the second round of the 1973 draft, he made his mark immediately, becoming the first player in MLB history to win both the Rookie of the Year Award and the Most Valuable Player Award in the same season, accomplishing the feat in 1975. He spent the bulk of his career with the Red Sox and the California Angels.
