Freddie "Curly" Neal

Freddie "Curly" Neal was a member of the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team. A fictionalized, animated version of him was featured in the Harlem Globetrotters Saturday morning cartoon produced by Hanna-Barbera and CBS Productions, which presented animated versions of players from the team. The series first broadcast on CBS Saturday Morning from September 12, 1970, to October 16, 1971, was repeated on CBS Sunday Morning from September 10, 1972, to May 20, 1973, and was later re-run on NBC from February 4 to September 2, 1978, as The Go-Go Globetrotters, a two-hour show. Alongside Neal, the animated team included fellow historical Globetrotters Meadowlark Lemon, Hubert "Geese" Ausbie, J.C. "Gip" Gipson, Bobby Joe Mason, and Paul "Pablo" Robertson, together with their fictional bus driver and manager Granny and their dog mascot Dribbles. Each episode followed a formula in which the team travels somewhere, becomes involved in a local conflict, and one of the Globetrotters proposes a basketball game to settle the issue.
