Charles Evard, known as "Old Sarge", was born September 30, 1882 in Huntsville, Alabama, and died February 6, 1951 in Joplin, Missouri. He made his major-league debut in 1904 and was associated chiefly with the Washington Senators, with his final big-league appearance coming in 1931, a span of 28 seasons. He managed in the major leagues from 1929 through 1938. He stood 5-foot-11 and was listed at 180 pounds, and batted and threw right-handed. His likeness survives in the cardboard record on the T204 Ramly issue. He is buried at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri.
